It is 20 km far from Alanya and stays inside the borders of Avsallar and Türkler Towns. In its magnificent era its name was Ptolemais but today we call it Aynali Lake, Golcuk or Fugla. Today this small city has lost all of its characteristics. Ptolemais was a settlement area founded on the seaside between 283 and 230 BC. The word "Golcuk" means small lake in Turkish. Because of its position, citizens could watch ships changing direction according to the wind and they used to destroy their enemies by encircling them with the help of the tunnels between those small lakes which come into existence with outgoing tide. In 1960's I worked as a teacher in Akdam Village. In my investigations in this district I came across remains of mills which were used to produce olive oil. That's why citizens of this district named the place "Zeytinlisay". The word "zeytin" means olive in Turkish. You can stay in the hotels which are located in this beautiful place between banana gardens. Write a Review
